FABRICATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF DISSOLVING MICRONEEDLE PATCH OF BUTORPHANOL TARTRATE

Objective: Butorphanol is a commonly used medication for the management of postoperative pain and suffers low bioavailability high first-pass metabolism. The objective current studies was to develop butorphanol tartrate-loaded dissolving microneedle patch overcome limitation metabolism without causing any discomfort patient. Methods: prepared using Lapox resin micro-molds. optimized box-Behnken design quantity PVA, HPMC K4M, K15M evaluated fractured axial force, microscopic evaluation, in vitro drug permeation studies, ex-vivo experiments. Results: developed meets all evaluation parameters within desired range. height tip diameter microneedles were found be 700 µm 800 60 61 µm. An force 189.67 N, suitable penetrating stratum corneum. cumulative % permeated showed 8 h with total 89.12 %, which shows occurred controlled manner. Conclusion: successfully results concluded that hard enough pass corneum release into systemic circulation reaching receptors; further, study suggested released prolonged period eliminating problem effect frequent administration.
